In 2002 the Vineyard Community Church of Evansville and three other Vineyard churches in Indiana formed a missions partnership with the existing Vineyard (La Viña) churches in Costa Rica. The goals of the U.S. Costa Rica Partnership have been to come alongside, help, and encourage the leadership of Vineyard churches in Costa Rica by:
1. Assisting with training and training conferences for leaders and laity of the Vineyard churches in Costa Rica.
2. Helping to encourage and establish new church plants. This would be accomplished through conferences, and short term missions groups that will help with training, equipping, outreach, construction, etc., as well as through 3 & 4 below.
3. Helping to encourage and strengthen existing churches.
4. Developing relationships with the leaders of the churches and church plants that allow us to speak into their churches and into their lives through encouragement, council, advice, and friendship.
Since forming the partnership with Vineyard churches in Costa Rica, we have taken numerous mission teams there and have helped the leaders put on national training conferences that are held every other year. Leaders from Spanish speaking Vineyard churches throughout Central and South America attend these training conferences. Our most recent one was held in July of 2016, and 120 Vineyard leaders from outside of Costa Rica attended along with over 300 members from the Costa Rican Vineyards.
When we began the partnership, there were four Vineyards in Costa Rica. Today, there are fifteen.
